Where does HERE get their information?
HERE has the largest and most highly trained team of mapmakers on the planet – with over 6,000 people in 55 countries. HERE starts with the most up-to-date, reliable source material. Where road information is not available, researchers create it using high-resolution imagery. Field crews then drive the streets to collect and verify basic information, such as street names and address ranges. The crews also obtain more detail on navigational obstructions and limitations for their Trucks product, like restricted vehicle height and weight limits, turn restrictions and other data (over 200 attributes per street segment) which enables applications to better route vehicles.
What is the Points of Interest (“POI”) layer?
Points of Interest are point records of organizations and facilities that add detail about the local area. The points generally fall into the following categories: business/retail, civic and education facilities and tourist attractions. POI Listing
